Spiced Salmon Potato Patties

This recipe is so simple and takes hardly any time at all. I used the left over salmon filet from previous night’s dinner.  If you need a quick and yummy salmon dinner/lunch, try this out. It would be nice served in a pita pocket with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.

  • 1 salmon filet cooked, use the leftover filet
  • 2 medium sized potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons chopped coriander (cilantro)
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1/4 inch fresh ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 lime (1 lime if you like the tangy twist which makes the patties more mouthwatering!)
  • salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  1. Cube the potatoes, boil and keep it aside
  2. Chop the onions to sauté in one tablespoon olive oil until cooked through but how to make salmon patties 3not brown.
  3. Finely chop the ginger, garlic and green chillies to add to the sauted onions in the pan
  4. Break the left over salmon filet to chunks, add to the pan
  5. Add the boiled potato cubes, mash gently, turn off the heat
  6. Squeeze the lime on to the ingredients in the pan
  7. Add salt, the chopped coriander, mix all the ingredients gently and let it cool to form the mixture into patties
  8. Beat one egg in a small bowl and coat each patty one at a time with the beaten egg. Place all the patties coated with egg on a separate plate, set aside for 5 minuteshow to make salmon appties 4
  9. In the meantime, add 3 tbs of olive oil in a pan on medium heat, brown the salmon patties on both sides (4 -5 minutes per side)
  10. Place cooked patties on a paper towel to absorb excess oil
